  • How do I transfer files to my homepage?

    You need an FTP (File Transfer Protocol) programme to transfer your files from your local computer to the WorldNet server, for example a shareware version WS_FTP LE would be handy.

    Note: For help and support on using FTP programme, please refer to the instruction that comes with the programme. WorldNet does not provide help & support to any FTP programmes.

    1. After you have successfully login, create a directory called "public_html", if the directory does not exist.
    2. Access (double-click) into "public_html". This is where all your homapage files should be resided. Transfer all the files into this directory.
    3. Now, check your homepage with your browser. The URL (Uniform Resource Locator) / address of your homepage will look like this: http://shell.world-net.co.nz/~my_internet_id

     

  • What files are supported?

    Your personal homepage supports the standard *.html and *.htm as the extension for viewing. Other files may be supported, or otherwise depend on the capability of varies browsers.


    CGI, SSI, PHP, ASP etc is supported for customer of Domain name and Web hosting only.

    Supported Files

    *.htm *.html

    *.gif *.jpg

    *.swf (Shockwave Flash etc)

    *.png (browser dependency)

    Note: Make sure that every first page within a directory you created has the default index file named "index.html". This is the page a web browser will look for when it gets into it. If it does not exist, all your files within such directory will be listed out for viewing.

     

  • How big is my personal homepage?

    The size of your personal homepage depends on the Internet plan you subscribed. Please refer to your Internet plan for details.

     

  • Can I change my personal homepage address?

    No, you cannot change your personal homepage address. However, if you are looking for more features, we encourage you to take a look at Domain name and Web hosting section for more information.

     

  • I received "Connection failed shell.world-net.co.nz" message during login

    This means that the connection is not available or, blocked by an unreconizised IP. Make sure that you are within WorldNet network/ connection.

     

  • Why can't I view my homepage?

    • Make sure all files are transferred/ uploaded to the "public_html" directory.

    • Make sure your default first page exist e.g. "index.html".

    • Your personal homepage may not ready if you failed during login. Please contact WorldNet to re-activate it.

    • To check if your personal homepage is ready, go to the URL with your Internet ID. Your homepage has a "~" before your Internet ID. eg. http://shell.world-net.co.nz/~johndoe
